Features & Highlights

  • Sand ballasted flocculation used to reduce the plant footprint for future capacity on-site
  • Included ozone generation system and sodium hypochlorite generation system
  • ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ provided plant operations services during the initial phase.
  • Project completed two months ahead of schedule and under budget
Project Overview

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ constructed Phase I of this surface water treatment plant with an initial 24 MGD of capacity on a greenfield site and then constructed a second 24 MGD treatment train to take the total production capacity to 48 MGD.

To meet Gilbert’s CIP budget, the team had to identify value engineering and constructability savings to keep the project within the budget. The project team identified $17M in potential savings based on the 30% estimate. The City approved approximately $13M in VE savings, meeting the necessary budget. All proceeds were returned to the Owner. Based on the team’s understanding of the mechanical systems, we were able to develop a new layout for the dewatering facility to eliminate the need for a new belt filter press by relocating an existing filter press, saving $544,332.

This WTP contains:

  • Anthracite deep-bed monomedia filtration
  • Ballasted flocculation
  • Ozone generation, treatment, and basins
  • Sodium Hypochlorite generation
