Ina Road and I-10 Interchange

Project Overview
Cutting diagonally through Tucson’s west end, the I-10 serves as the main route for regional travel and trade. Safe and efficient freeway access, however, has been lacking; frontage roads run parallel to the Union Pacific Railroad with multiple at-grade railroad crossings.
To fix this problem, ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ and a joint-venture partner rebuilt and elevated the Ina Road interchange, widening both I-10 and Ina Road as well as replacing the existing Santa Cruz River Bridge. The improved infrastructure reduces delays and increases safety for the nearly 25,000 drivers who use the interchange every day.
Even with summer heat, monsoon rains, live traffic, and roosting bats, crews managed to keep the project moving smoothly, including a shutdown and bypass operation of major sewer and water lines, which had to be manned around the clock for a two-month period. The effort of our skilled craft workforce and the foresight of our project leadership made it possible to capitalize on critical windows in scheduling.
